The existing Ecobee install utilizes the PEK due to the fact I feel there are only four or five wires likely within the thermostat towards the furnace but I can pretty conveniently add much more wires if necessary to get two phases (thermostat is nearly instantly above the furnace that is inside the unfinished basement).
